Six steps of a trip to Hanshi: from enquiry to returning home

A trip to Hanshi NeuroLife in Shangrao starts with a preliminary review of the child's documents. The family first receives a response about a possible programme, then prepares documents, travel and accommodation. Buying tickets does not itself confirm admission or an appropriate set of sessions.

The centre divides the journey into six stages: application, visa, flight, accommodation, programme and return. Each stage should leave the family with a clear answer before moving on.

1. Application: documents and a preliminary response

The organisational stages of the trip; the child's programme is individual.

The application guidance requests a questionnaire, recent discharge summaries, clinicians' reports and assessment results. Documents are accepted in any language, without a required advance translation. A video of up to one minute helps show movement, speech or interaction.

Video provides an introduction before arrival, not a replacement for an in-person assessment. Show ordinary actions your child performs and clarify the requested content with the coordinator. There is no need to obtain a difficult movement just for the application.

The centre states that doctors usually provide a detailed response within 1–3 days, covering whether rehabilitation is possible, a preliminary plan, suggested duration and payment arrangements. Ask what has been agreed and what remains dependent on assessment before buying tickets.

2. Invitation and travel documents

After programme approval, passport details are needed for the child and accompanying adults. In the centre's stated process, the family enters them through a form. Check names and participants against the passports that will be used.

The centre gives 1–2 days for preparing its visa document package. This refers to the centre's work, not consular visa issuance. An invitation does not establish that all entry requirements have been met.

The invitation process is described on the initial enquiry page. Detailed instructions are on the hub: visa preparation and the electronic arrival card. Check requirements for your nationality and dates; this article does not give one permitted stay length for every family.

3. Flights and an agreed arrival in Shangrao

The centre is in Shangrao, Jiangxi province. The travel page identifies Shangrao Sanqingshan airport, SQD, and Shangrao railway station. The coordinator helps choose a route through a suitable transport hub; the family purchases air and rail tickets.

Compare the entire journey: connections, baggage, airport-to-station travel if needed and arrival time in Shangrao. Check actual services when booking rather than treating a general route description as proof of flight availability.

The centre describes round-the-clock reception, including weekends and holidays. Arrival still needs arranging in advance: send tickets, dates and times, and explain wheelchair, child-seat and luggage requirements. Confirm the meeting point and a contact for changes. Availability at different times does not remove the need to book.

According to the centre, an interpreter-coordinator accompanies the family to accommodation after pickup. Confirm support arrangements and any charges before travelling. Organising a meeting does not in itself make it free.

4. Check-in: the actual apartment and shared facilities

On-site apartments use a shared kitchen on the floor; there is no private kitchen inside the apartment.

The accommodation page presents housing options. For apartments on the complex grounds, an important distinction is that there is no private kitchen in the apartment: a shared kitchen is provided on the floor. This matters when preparing familiar food for your child.

Confirm your actual option before arrival: sleeping arrangements, bathroom access, space for support equipment and kitchen access. Conditions in an off-site apartment should not automatically be applied to on-site accommodation. Request photographs and a description of the chosen housing.

At check-in, check keys and appliances and ask about shared-kitchen rules and drinking water purchases. The centre describes assistance with registration within the first day; agree the documents needed and confirm completion with the coordinator. Do not leave the question until your regular routine begins.

Local communication, initial purchases and language assistance form part of the described arrival support. Check your own phone and payment options separately. Save the accommodation and centre addresses in Chinese, together with the coordinator's contact, for offline use.

5. Assessment, the programme and payment

The programme description places the initial assessment on arrival day or the following day. Bring originals or copies of the documents submitted and explain current prescriptions, allergies and any recent change in your child's condition.

After assessment and necessary investigations, the team develops an individual programme. The centre uses GROW as the name of its staged developmental approach; the name alone does not explain your child's goals or sessions. Ask how the timetable relates to specific tasks, where breaks fit and how changes will be reviewed.

The stated rule is that programme payment begins after arrival, with no pre-arrival payment. This does not remove ticket, document or other family expenses. Financial details belong on the price page; clarify what the individual estimate includes and how services provided are recorded.

6. Discharge and continuing at home

The return page asks families to specify required discharge documents 10 days before discharge. State the language needed and who will use them at home: the family, a local doctor or a rehabilitation team.

Request the final report, assessment results and recommendations. Before departure, ask for unclear instructions to be explained, necessary actions demonstrated and review points clarified. Home recommendations need to be understandable to the person supporting the child daily.

Also arrange final payment checks, apartment checkout and transport to SQD or Shangrao station. Do not leave document checks until the vehicle arrives. A repeat programme is discussed in light of current needs and previous findings, rather than assigned automatically to every family.

Submit your child's documents for preliminary review. The centre's stated usual response time is 1–3 days.
