Description

How the procedure works

Gut microbiota regulation is one of the signature strengths of the H&B Neurolife International Rehabilitation Center (Shangrao) and a core element of its proprietary biomedical foundation. Unlike a "try this probiotic" approach, the program is built on precise microbiota analysis: the detailed composition of the gut flora is profiled, key imbalances are identified, and personalized probiotics and an individualized diet are selected on that basis. This is substantially more effective than generic over-the-counter probiotics — some probiotics may not suit a particular child and can even worsen the picture, which cannot be detected without testing.

The key mechanism is the gut–brain axis. Serotonin and dopamine, key neurotransmitters of emotion and behavior regulation, are synthesized predominantly in the gut; the state of the microbiota directly affects emotional and behavioral state. In children with ASD, gastrointestinal problems and dysbiosis are markedly more common than average and sustain irritability, sleep disturbance, and behavioral problems. For this reason microbiota regulation often becomes the missing link in rehabilitation — especially when standard methods seem to stall. The program includes: precise testing, personalized probiotics, dietary therapy and nutritional support, restoration of the intestinal barrier, and regulation of neurotransmitter signaling along the gut–brain axis. When indicated, medication support is added at the physician's discretion.

Strengths of this line at the center: precise microbiota testing — the key differentiator from "try this probiotic"; personalized probiotics and an individualized diet — substantially more effective than generic options; microbiota regulation as part of the proprietary methodology and one of the dedicated lines of the partner network specializing in microbiota; impact on digestion, sleep, emotional and behavioral state, and immunity.

What matters for parents

Microbiota regulation is not an "optional add-on" — it is part of the core of the rehabilitation program. This is especially true in ASD, emotional instability, sleep disorders, and behavioral problems: when the microbiota is brought into balance, children often improve not only in digestion but also in sleep, emotion, and tolerance of therapy. For adult patients with microbiota-related conditions, a dedicated partner center operates separately — see microbiota-lab.com.

1

Physician consultation and precise microbiota analysis

The physician reviews the child's digestion, appetite, sleep, and behavior. A precise laboratory analysis of the gut microbiota is performed — a detailed composition profile that identifies key imbalances.

2

Selection of an individualized protocol (probiotics + diet)

Based on the analysis, personalized probiotics, an individualized diet, and nutritional support (vitamins, micronutrients, essential fatty acids) are selected.

3

Start of treatment and tolerability monitoring

Treatment begins on schedule; appetite, stool, behavior, sleep, and emotional state are monitored regularly. The plan is adjusted as needed.

4

Integration with the rehabilitation program

Microbiota regulation is built into the overall program — rehabilitation courses, TCM, and, when indicated, medication support. For children with ASD this often becomes the missing link.

5

Follow-up testing and decision on continuation

Follow-up microbiota testing after the course; evaluation of symptom dynamics; adjustment of the protocol or decision on a next course.
