Autism and ASD
Also known as: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Autism, Childhood autism, Autistic disorder
An ASD rehabilitation program at H&B Neurolife International Rehabilitation Center (Shangrao) for children aged 1-14. It combines our proprietary staged GROW program, a biomedical core (stem cells, microbiota regulation, neuroregulation), and leading international correction methods - ABA, Floortime, Super Skills, sensory integration.
What is Autism and ASD?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition in which a child's social communication, speech, and behavior develop in a distinctive way from early life. ASD is not a "personality trait" or "shyness" - it reflects how the central nervous system works. Core features usually become noticeable by 2-3 years of age: marked speech difficulties, deficits in normal interaction, and repetitive stereotyped behavior. Early intervention within the 2-6 year window yields the best prognosis, so when first signs appear it is important to seek a specialized center as early as possible.
At H&B Neurolife International Rehabilitation Center (Shangrao), ASD care is built on an all-encompassing individualized model: the educational-rehabilitation core is complemented by medical intervention, physiotherapy, biological regulation, and nutritional support. Under physician supervision, we apply the principle of "recovery through active stem cells and gut microbiota regulation as the lead line, with rehabilitation training as a through-thread." In parallel, the child enters the proprietary staged GROW program - 4 sequential stages for ages 1-14, where placement is by developmental stage rather than chronological age.
What sets the ASD program at H&B Neurolife apart
The center combines methods of evidence-based Western medicine (ABA, Floortime, TEACCH, Super Skills, sensory integration) with Traditional Chinese Medicine (pediatric acupuncture, Tui Na massage) and instrumental physiotherapy (TMS, Tomatis auditory integration, neuromuscular stimulation). The biomedical core - stem cells, microbiota regulation, neuroregulation - works on the physiological substrate of brain development: inflammation, conductivity, the gut-brain axis, sleep, and nutrition. This creates conditions in which rehabilitation training produces visible results rather than being derailed by accompanying physical problems.
The rehabilitation program is supported by a minute-by-minute daily schedule for the child and a detailed family timetable: specialists teach parents Tui Na hand techniques and basic ABA strategies so that home rehabilitation (at least 1 hour per day) reinforces the work done at the center. Regular reassessment using PEP, ABC, S-S, and Shuangxi tools allows the plan to be adjusted and progress to be tracked through data, not "by eye."
When to seek help
If by 4 months your child does not look at faces or smile back, by 6 months shows no clear joyful emotion, by 12 months does not respond to their own name (with intact hearing), by 16 months does not say a single word, by 18 months does not use a pointing gesture - seek a specialist urgently. The earlier targeted correction begins, the higher the chances for sustainable development of speech, social skills, and independence.
Causes
The exact causes of ASD are unknown. A leading role is played by genetic predisposition combined with environmental factors. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder, not a result of parenting.
Symptoms
Difficulties in communication and social interaction, delayed speech, stereotyped movements, restricted interests, and sensory sensitivity to sounds, light, or touch.
Diagnostics
Diagnosis is based on observing behavior and development: screenings (M-CHAT, ADOS), speech assessment, and consultations with a neurologist, psychiatrist, and psychologist. Ruling out hearing loss is important.
Prognosis and treatment approach
The prognosis depends on severity and how early support begins. Early intervention markedly improves speech, social, and daily-living skills; many children adapt successfully.
